Easy Procedure To Cook Palitaw

Palitaw is a glutinous rice recipe which is very popular in the Philippines. It is categorized as "kakanin" which belongs to the variety of butsi, biko, puto and other recipes that use malagkit or glutinous rice as the basic ingredient.

What i love about palitaw is the grated coconut toppings on top plus the sugar and linga which make this food a unique and a very yummy kakanin. Coconut shouldn't be old but shouldn't be too fresh, just choose the one they called as "alangan" which is the best toppings for palitaw.

When I was young, I used buy palitaw in the street peddlers, so sad that I don't see anyone selling this food anymore. Luckily, my aunt who used to make this type of kakanin as one of her source of income years ago taught me how to make it. I was surprised that it was not that hard to prepare, I used to believe that if the food is delicious, it's definitely hard to make but I was wrong.

ground Malagkit (sticky or glutinous rice flat, oval shape)
coconut water
banana leaves (optional)
grated coconut

Boil half amount of water in a casserole.
Add malagkit while boiling
the malagkit will float when cooked.
roll the malagkit into grated coconut
add sugar and linga on top
Easy! share and enjoy!
