Signs and Symptoms of Heart Attack in Women

Hello Mommies, we have only one body that could easily be destroyed or damaged if neglected. One common disease among Filipino women is coronary heart disease which usually cause a heart attack if not taken with precautions. Heart attack can be avoided if we only learn about the signs and symptoms.

In an article I read at Heart.org entitled "Heart Attack Symptoms in Women" it says that men and women can experience chest pressure. This pressure can be compared to an elephant sitting across the chest. However, they added that women can experience a heart attack without such strong chest pressure. This medical information was stated by Nieca Goldberg, M.D., medical director for the Joan H. Tisch Center for Women's Health at NYU’s Langone Medical Center and an American Heart Association volunteer. Based on the same report, instead of chest pain, women may experience shortness of breath, pressure or pain in the lower chest or upper abdomen plus dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting, they can likewise feel upper back pressure and extreme fatigue.

I am not a great artist so bear with my illustration, I just did my avatar to illustrate the points where you will feel pain or pressure that could possibly be a symptom that you're having a heart attack or a sign that you'll be having an attack.

Signs and Symptoms of Heart Attack in Women:

Chest Pain or uncomfortable pressure - it lasts for a few minutes, it may gone for a while but comes back after a certain period.
Jaw Pain - based on my observation from a relative who had mild heart attack, she suddenly felt some sort or joint pain, she felt a little stiffness on some areas in her jaws.
Neck Pain -The most common symptoms of heart attack in men and women, next to chest pain. Neck pain is usually a feeling of thickening at the back of the neck. It's usually a prolonged pain which resulted to uncomfortable feeling.
Arm Pain - it can be felt on both arms which usually begin at the upper joint and connected to the entire arm. It also gives an uncomfortable feeling to the patient.
Stomach Pain - stomach is a common illness which usually caused by the food we eat, this is why this sign is usually ignored by the patient but this is one of the major signs of heart attack especially in women.
